The city is a laid back temple town that offers a very peaceful experience. There are numerous small and big temples along with 25 ghats on the river Yamuna where devotees take a dip every evening.
As Mathura's Holi is famous worldwide, thus thousands of pilgrims visit this holy city on the occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami (Lord Krishna's Birthday) in August/September and during Holi in March.
A trip to Mathura is coupled with a visit to Vrindavan, a small town but equally famous for its religious attributes, where Lord Krishna spent his childhood days. There are numbers of temples representing the Radha-Krishna love affair.
Day 1 Delhi to Mathura
Being Fairly close to Delhi (Capital of India), your journey for Mathura begins from here only. It is only 165 km and takes 3 hours to reach Mathura.
After reaching to Mathura, check-in to the pre-booked hotel. If you are tired then relax for while otherwise start exploring the birthplace of Lord Krishna.
Each Temple in Mathura has its own significance among the devotee but the main temple is the Sri Krishna Janma Bhoomi (born site of Lord Krishna).
Other attractions are Sri Krishna Janmasthan, Dwarkadheesh Temple, Vishram Ghat, Gita Mandir, Radha Kund, Govardhan Hill and many others.After exploring, return to the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 2 Mathura-Vrindavan-Agra
Wake up at morning, have breakfast and start the drive to Vrindavan to know about Lord Krishna's childhood.
Vrindavan is just 11 km from Mathura and it takes 30min to reach there.
Upon arrival, visit the Shri Banke Bihari Mandir and Rangji Temple which are the largest temples in Vrindavan.
Another exciting temple is Govind Dev Ji Temple, ISKCON Temple with Krishna and Balram as the main deities. Other attraction is Madan Mohan Temple, Mirabai Temple.
At evening, drive back to Delhi via. Agra.Trip and services end upon arrival at Delhi only.
